Hey mates,

I am making an attempt at PdL's El Tempul. A friend of mine passed this tab to me, and I found it to be one of the most accurate tabs of PdL's works I have ever come across. However, there's a part where something is fishy. Either I'm not getting it, or the tab is wrong. The part I'm referring to is the fast rasgueado-ish part from 0:24 to 0:28 in the piece (in the Fantasia Flamenca album). It is found in the tab at the end of the second line, and up to the middle of the fourth line. The tab says to use "i A i" and includes golpes (marked as X). I just cannot figure out how to use an "i A i" technique while simultaneously doing golpes. The usual i A i triplet that I use is:

1- down with A
2- down with i (and simultaneously up with A but without contacting the strings with A)
3- up with i

So I just cannot see where I can include a golpe in that. I usually use the A and M fingers simultaneously for golpes. If any of you guys knows what technique PdL is using in that part of El Tempul, please let me know. Thanks a ton!

Ramzi

As Romerito said, i down with golpe on the beat, i up and retract "a", then a down. So A finger has to move fast. Faucher wrote it backwards (perhaps on purpose to see who steals his stuff), iai, but it should be iia.

not special, but VERY HARD to get going real fast. Try to do a gallop rhythm first i with golpe, pause, the i up a down i down with golpe. i.....iai.....iai..... so you emphasize the beat with the golpe. Once you get the mechanics, slow down a bit and do an even triplet grouping, and gradually speed it up. It is hard I admit, but surely possible.

If you still don't believe it is possible, Florian once loaded a short MPG movie of Chicuelo doing that technique on the uploads section, but unfortunately I could not locate it. Perhaps he will read this and remember or reload it.

Ok, like I said, it is not easy to do fast.
But here you can see that it is possible.
Chicuelo doing it in bulerias live.
