Another reminder of good times in London: http://www.foroflamenco.com/upfiles/1/Yw66678.wmv My dad used to wear a black cowboy hat just like that! MORAITO- Not the best soloist or anything, but man when he accompanies especially bulerias, it is an AMAZING grooove. Nothing fancy but really in the "sweet spot", in the Pocket. To accompany you need no more or no less. The maestros of the guitar who do fancier things are certainly more interesting to listen to for guitar fans, and not inferior for sure as accompanyists, but like I said, no more or no less is required. Perfect taste. Check out El Angel Vid where you see Camaron do the same ol stuff you know that he does with Paco and Tomatito, but check out that simple groove Morao has going on. And he has a simple blue print for accompanying that works for ALL the different singers. Compare his way with tomatito also accompanying Zambo. Half compases are obvious difference, but overall they both have their own way of doing it, though both are in the "jerez" style. There is more to guitar than only accompaniment, but he is pretty much perfect for cante. Another great of accomp. is Paco Cepero. Same thing, always knows the right style and feel, but for solo playing he is OK. Juan Habichuela too. It is just what they focus on. For the record, I HATE when aficionados right off great players as "solista". GRRRR! There is room for many accompaniment styles. I have heard several others accomp. as good as Moraito with the right taste. An under rated accompanyist is Gerardo Nunez. Another not so famous but GREAT accompanyist is Manolo Franco. Ricardo
