Does getting a new guitar make you practice more? This is also a point I wanted to ask, because I am in desperate need of some inspiration

Yes, to start with. When I first got my Yamaha I didn't come out of my bedroom for about a whole week. Just spent that time breaking it in and playing every damn lick I know (Flamenco OR otherwise).

But after the novelty wears off, you're left with good old self-discipline, as Romerito mentioned. if you are strong, you'll keep at it. If not, the laziness will creep back in.

For me, the laziness crept back in. fair enough, its only a cheap Yamaha Flamenco guitar. But think carefully before splashing out on a Conde or the likes. Dedication comes FROM WITHIN and buying the best guitar may not change that.
