i thought i might do another poll since theres a few going around[:)] heres your chance to voice your opinion (anymously if you wish). A few people have expressed theyre dissatisfaction with recent posts etc. I can understand why too i guess. But i think it all has to do with the way you look at things.

Obviousley the JM debate is a contentious issue, which i think will never be resolved. Im almost starting to feel sorry for the guy, but if you put yourself out there in the public eye you have to accept the good with the bad. Its probably tough for guys like Paco too. He probably wishs some days he wasnt famous so he could at least walk down the street in peace without fans coming up to him the whole time.

I think on here its awsome that people are so passionate, whether they like JM or Paco or modern or traditional. Thats what makes this forum so vibrant and dynamic. Have you ever been to that other mainstream flamenco forum(i wont mention the name), you can hear a pin drop in there, hardley any new posts or anything. Its like youre waiting for a tumbleweed to blow across the screen just for a bit of excitment.

This is hands down, the best english speaking flamenco forum imho, and the fact that it can make you feel angry or passionate about something isnt necessarily a bad thing. Not to mention the wealth of learning material and advice from other guitarists thats around. Even comparing it to forums in general, i dont think youll find a place like this ANYWHERE else on the internet.
(Thats just my opinion, you dont have to aggree.)

Anders Eliasson -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 22 2006 8:20:17)

I think it´s OK is what I voted. I actually think its great. Very vibrant and full of discussion. The forum is now so big that I cant follow all discussions, just some few.
I did not log in for 3 month. I was away half the time and just did not feel like forumming when I came back. That was great and I can really advice people to take a break once in a while, when you feel tired of reading the same posts. Now, there´s a lot of new members, lots of action etc. Great.

As on other lively forums, there are of course some stupid discussions going on (JM) and some times I feel like telling some to take a break. As on other forums here you also have members logging in to much and not playing, dancing, singing, building and listening enough. That´s what its all about.

Just my thoughts

The foro is great and addictive.
I always am connected when I'm practising. Gives me something to do in the practise breaks.

There's only two things I miss.
One : More audio video uploads from Ricardo, Todd, Henrik
two : More Flo-posts.[8D]

Florian -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 22 2006 9:10:15)

screw you koella !!! you dont like my videos !!

(ops sorry Anders[:D])

koella -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 22 2006 9:28:55)

Don't misunderstand me Flo[:D]
If you didn't make any video uploads then I would have included you in the list too.
But you upload regularly. And I like them.[;)]

It's just that Ricardo etc. don't make any uploads these days.

Florian -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 22 2006 9:30:48)

lol i know man i am kidding , i know what u sayin.

(again I am sorry Anders [:D])

Escribano -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 22 2006 10:52:48)

I voted as Admin but it is your forum - as long as you are reasonable, where it goes is entirely up to you.

aammaguiar -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 22 2006 20:53:50)

I regularly get into the forum and find it exreemely useful and informative as well. Entertaining too. My only negative comment would be, that as in many similar forums, some people tend to go on and on about trivial stuff. No big deal! If that what turns them on it's fine - easy to scan out.

koella -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 22 2006 21:04:28)

Ah yes. What's trivial, what doesn't turn me on.
I guess for me that is the next guy who wants to show his latest ( VERY EXPENSIVE ) guitar. With pictures and all. Show me a close up from the pegs. I know what pegs look like.[:D]

Is that trivial ? Boring maybe ? No, to them it isn't.

So I just skip the posts and leave them be. Like Romerito says : Peace.

hey Simon, let me guess...you voted 'dont care'[:D]

Sure this place has started going a bit crazy since the ' how to contact JM' post (way to go Sabo[;)]...im kidding[:)]) but thats what happened last time with that topic, and everything calmed down. What im trying to say i guess is i dont think theres some big shift in 'forum culture' here. Its still the same great place it always was, besides it would get boring if everything just cruised along smoothly all the time.

I don't post on those, but I really love those sharp pictures of nice guitars. Even guitars I dont' like, I like the pics. Keep em comming guys.

Ricardo

PS, to Anders,
I read your recent comments and get an impression you feel certain individuals are occupying too much time on the forum. I dont' think it is fair to just make a claim generally like that. Better to announce who that is or PM them privately to discuss your feelings. In general I miss your comments around here and I like reading your thoughts on guitar making/makers, etc. Hope you can get over your obvious bitterness and get on with posting some interesting stuff. Ciao

Florian -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 23 2006 7:46:15)

btw. i voted the top one

even when i had left the forum i would have wanted it to be a great forum and continued to be good.

and even when the forum is bad , (i am not sure how that can be), and if it is we are all equaly responsible because is not just one guy driving the foros direction.

so if u not happy with it mibe start looking in the mirror first and ask yourself "what have i done to contribuite to it ?."

before you point to someone else, because is just like everything else some make an effort and others just visit and hope to score some freebies, tab, compas whatever and dont even replie to posts.

Anders Eliasson -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 23 2006 8:17:39)

Trivial stuff could be when someone posts something he/she finds important and within a few hours it ends up being:

Funny funny funny you. Ha ha ha and funny you to.

I like pictures of expensive guitars with pegs. They are all different. The funny funny is all the same to me. But I know..... I´m a bit boring

Florian -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 23 2006 8:27:58)

it seems to me like is more a question of age gaps difference between us and we all do and see things different according to our age.

so how do we solve it ? how do we live togheder in a way that i can be allowed to be myself and you be allowed to be yourself ?

koella -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 23 2006 8:30:39)

Hey I don't want to attack people who are proud of their guitars and put pictures of it on the foro. Just wanted to give an example of what is trivial to me.

c'mon anders, you entitled to your views and opinions just like everyone else. Why do you have to have goes at everyone for having a sense of humour you dont get? instead of bickering in a thread you dont enjoy just go to one you do enjoy. Its obviously makes you bitter in here, find a thread that makes you happy.[:)] really...youll thank me later

Florian -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 23 2006 10:05:01)

well this post u just made is not so bad it shows humblness ..
that u can be light too well done [;)] see... its not so bad... noone died and i like you more allready.

Anders Eliasson -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 23 2006 12:13:20)

Dominic,
You´re right. Of course you are right, BUT...
There´s a reason for sometimes taking up a fight on a forum like this one. Because if not, they tend to degenerate ending up with smalltalk, gossip and badmouthing.
So I felt it was important to give it a shout. And I have the feeling that this is what this thread is all about. Before comming back, I was lurking for 2 weeks without loggin in and I wasn´t to sure if I was going to join the forum again. What had happened in 3 month? Still the same stupid Juan Martin discussions, still a lot of yaggin and a lot of nonsense as well. I hate when some starts a thread and within 1 day it ends up being just bable about nothing. Thats what others call fun and humour. I call it emptiness.

But you are right and anyone else saying the same: If you dont like a thread, pick another. BUT:

I would VERY MUCH like to add the following:

IF you have nothing to say to the original post... Just dont write or say anything.

Anders Eliasson -> RE: NEW POLL-what do you think of the current state of affairs in the foro? (Oct. 23 2006 13:25:29)

Uhhh you got me Flo[:-]

I´m sure though that Romerito will send me a mail and we´ll talk things over in a more private atmosphere.

Romerito, Tanks for your nice words. I will upload some photos in the Luthiery section of my last creations, when I´ve finished my idealistic quest in this post. ( It´s a har work but someone has to do it) [:D]
