Escribano -> Back to the electric guitar (Sep. 26 2006 16:37:34)

I've been resting my flamenco for a few weeks. In the meantime I have been missing the Gibson SG Deluxe and Marshall that I gave to my nephew so I went out and bought a Vintage Les Paul Gold Top copy with the mini-humbuckers.

Reduced to £150 and what a bargain; this guitar kicks rrrrrs. Action is great, very playable and the sound is astonishing. A straight through neck and a very heavy solid body. It is seriously better than the real Gold Tops I used to play around with 30 years ago. Computer engineering and Chinese manufacturing costs, no doubt.

Got a Line6 Spider II amp and Zoom MRT-3B drum machine to go with it and boy am I HAVING FUN! Call it a birthday present to me.

My ligato and left hand flamenco fingering is paying off after 3 years away from the electric. Speed, rhythm and finger postioning are all significantly improved. Scale runs are a tad Spanish now though.

Congratulations Simon [:D]

I hope it doesn't hurt your right hand technique.
I lent an instructional video last week from Frank Gambale and tried some of that speed picking technique, but it shocked me afterwards how the intense pick-playing tensed my thumb.

So I kindly returned the video the next day. [&:]
