Ron.M -> Flamenco Flop? (Nov. 19 2003 19:23:57)

I was looking forward to the Flamenco-World presentation of "Inmigracion", advertised as the first simultaneous/live Flamenco show and Internet link.
(So the recent Jerez Festival wasn't?)
But all I can get from Flamenco-World is an error message reporting too many connections.
"Connection Failed...."
Taller Flamenco said that they would be also carrying a stream, but all that's available is advertising blurb for various items.
Ho hum...so much for the Internet.
Hey...can't complain. It's Free!!
I think I'll go and watch the Scotland/Holland game instead!

cheers

Ron

Very close game and a narrow defeat! LOL!
Not to take away from the great professional game played by Holland, but, Jeez, if the Scotland Manager had picked 11 fans out of the crowd, the result would have been better!
Yet we pay these bums £250,000 a year or more each to get the right perm for their hair etc.
What a joke!
To viewers overseas, I'm talking about football (soccer) where Scotland has just been absolutely slaughtered by Holland 6-0!
I think we're probably better at Flamenco!

LOL!

Man, Ron, the football players get paid 250#? That's a boatload... how much of it gets taxed away?

Guest -> RE: Flamenco Flop? (Nov. 20 2003 13:23:40)

Ron.

They should pretend they are playing the "auld enemy" every time they turn out. That way at least we might see a bit of true Scottish passion. I really miss the home internationals and found it hard to believe those were Scots out there last night. Bring back Archie Gemmil, Jimmy Johnson and co (-:

Jim. An ardent England supporter for life (-:

We just missed the boat too (again) - the last time we made the finals of a major footie tournament, TV hadn't been invented! [:o]

..oh, and England knocked us out of the rugby world cup as well. [&o]

Not a good week, it it Ron?

Mike,
Probably very little. In the UK here, once you start earning Megabucks, you can afford a crafty accountant who will set up non-taxable offshore funds and other legal scams for you.
By the way David Beckham gets paid much more than that.
£250,000 is just pocket money to him.
But the boy can actually play!

cheers

Ron

Here's one for you.

Here in Portland, we have the Portland Trail Blazer's pro basketball team. A couple of days ago, player Bonzi Wells was suspended for two games for cussing out the coach in a recent game. The two game suspension cost him $150,000.

And he is far from being the highest paid player on the team.

The performance in Sevilla was not broadcast live due to technical problems, and a tape made several weeks earlier had to be substituted. As you say, there have been many live broadcasts, but had this come off, it would have been the first broadcast of an entire show.
