Matic -> Problem...trying her... (Sep. 16 2006 12:32:19)

Hi everyone! This is my first post here. I've been reading this nice forum for some time and learned a lot.

I'm buying my first flamenco guitar. I've got a question for you. Did anyone of you buy a guitar without trying it first?

I know this is very risky and unpleasant business, but what to do if there's no FG shop in your country and you are unable to try one...?

Thanks,
M

pIf it costs much money, you can put just 50bucks more on to and take the train to the next shop. I can fly to Sevilla or Madrid for around 100€ return included. A cheap hotel is 20€ one night. So just get you but from the couch.[;)]
If you wanna buy a low price model, it doenst matter how much you test it. They are all bad. Just pick one which looks good and has no metal strings.
How much money are you willing to pay? And on which level of playing are you?

I did that with my first guitar. It was not a bad guitar, but I could have done better probably if I had more to compare. I still have it, but the guitars I bought since then were picked by me from others. It is better that way.

So just make sure you can send it back if you don't like it. Make sure you have time (a few days) to try out different strings on it.

[:D]
I'm willing to spend around 1000 EUR. I've been searching a lot on internet and sent plenty of emails to luthiers and dealers. I'm especially interested in three moels: PdL Siroco Blanca, Hnos. Sanchiz Lopez 2F and Hnos. Sanchiz Lopez F03.

Well I'm 16 if that tells you anything. Play guitar for alm. 4 yrs and last half year flamenco.

I have holidays in november... If you call me couch potato again... I'll take my undewear and walk to Spain if necessary.

I recommend you go with 2F.

Matic -> RE: Problem...trying her... (Sep. 16 2006 16:59:31)

Hi, Ricardo, RESPECT to your playing!

Umm... any particular reason why you recommend 2F?

Ricardo -> RE: Problem...trying her... (Sep. 16 2006 18:31:37)

Because I have played several of them and I liked them all.

Not everybody offers this option.
Mundo Flamenco... I've got some recommendations on them. Do they offer this few-days-try?

What do you think about Mundo Flamenco anyway?

Doitsujin -> RE: Problem...trying her... (Sep. 17 2006 11:09:36)

Mundo flamenco is very serious. I know the shopowner and he was a very good guitarrist, too. Hes a good guy. But I dont think you can test the guitars at your home for some days. Michael only choose the best guitars for his shop. He buys them all personally in the builders place. Hes a good adress for flamenco-guitars. The price is sometimes a bit higher than normal, but you can be shure to buy a good guitar.

Hmmm...who is Michael? I know only Johannes who runs Mundo Flamenco for years...

Hes visiting the Berlin Flamenco week every year with several guitars and he brings one if you are interested in a particular model. He does the same for other festivals, too - so you could try to contact him, maybe he happens to be nearer to your place (where ever it may be) for a few days. I also kknow that he offered to send a guitar for testing, that was no problem with him.

Matic -> RE: Problem...trying her... (Sep. 17 2006 18:46:52)

I'm from Slovenia. Thats quite near to their place.

I sent them an e-mail and was responded he isn't in the office these days... I'll wait.

It would be great if I get a chance to test her.
