Paleto -> Paco Peña Transcriptions (Sep. 6 2006 23:39:12)

Hi everyone,

I think I have found a source for a book published in 1981 of Paco Peña's music. This page here http://hermanvanveen.ibuildings.nl/shop/?shop=harlekijn&pid=73&iep=8d447a8770732ff051f90300d5c6971c is to a shop in the Netherlands and it appears to have copies of the music to sell. The book has transcriptions to th efollowing songs:

01. Mantilla y Peina [Guajiras] (LP "Fabulous Flamenco")
02. Arabesca [Zambra] (LP "Flamenco Paco Pena")
03. La Isla [Alegrias De Cordoba] (LP "Flamenco Vivo")
04. Cancion [Petenera] ( CD "Azahara")

I thought some of you might be interested.

If there's anyone reading this who is in the Netherlands, I would love to be sent a copy if you can do it. I will be happy to send a check or some other thing in trade.

I remember someone was looking for the Alegrías de Córdoba, and as I had copied those alegrías, I sent them for free.

My email is a71garcia@san.rr.com if you can help me out with this.

Thanks,

Anthony

Hi Paleto.

I know the book. Don't buy it.
It's in note writing only ( no TAB) and is very bad transcribed.

You better buy "toque libre" published by "windmill publications" in England.

Koella,

I can't find anything called Toques Libres. I do know of the Toques Flamencos book/cd/tape and have that - it is good material for early intermediate.

I also couldn't find anything on line about Windmill Publications.

Can you clarify for me?

I know the Ad Rooymans book is just notation, that's not a problem. I can still work through it without too much problem.

I would appreciate:

A) Clarification on Toques Libres/Windmill Publications (maybe you can show me a site where I can purchase it?

B) Would you consider sending me the book anyway? I can send a check today to you for the money.

-Anthony

Paleto,

Its called Toques Flamencos, and it comes with a cd. Great material.
It's easy to find.

The transcription sare available from this site:

http://www.gitaarspeciaalzaak.nl/index.asp

They are cheap only about 10 euros, plus shipping.

I received the book promptly.

You can also get another book with easier music, different music, most solo, but some arranged for 2 and 3 guitars here:

http://www.zephyrmusic.com.au/Guitar.Pdf

Look on page 13 under Stimpson, M. You will see another Paco Peña book. I have learned the sevillanas, not bad. I tweaked them a little to make them a little less repetitive. Not bad introductory material.

Both books were sent immediately, good vendors.

Have fun,

-Anthony

I think this book is quite well transcribed. It is indeed in musical notations, so we'll have to take the pain to work them out. La Isla is a different version of Alegrias de Cordoba, as recorded on Pena's live in Munich.

Paleto -> RE: Paco Peña Transcriptions (Mar. 13 2007 18:06:50)

I think the Alegría de Córdoba is almost note for note the same as the older recording, from an older recording and the introduction sounds suspiciously like that of the granaína Medina Azahara.

Sorry for being so late replying to this.

The transcriptions seem to me extremely accurate. Ad was a friend of Paco’s, and I believe the transcriptions were checked by him.

Ad is a wonderful wonderful guy who gave the very young and at the time completely unknown Vicente Amigo his very first professional guitar for free (a wonderful Gerundino). Let's just say that was a bigger contribution to (flamenco)music than some of his other deeds.

Paul Magnussen -> RE: Paco Peña Transcriptions (Jul. 26 2012 17:54:33)

If you see Ad say Hi to him from me, I haven't seen him for 30 years. Annamika & Evalina — good grief, they may be mothers or even grandmothers by now, I remember them as cute teenagers.

Erik van Goch -> RE: Paco Peña Transcriptions (Jul. 26 2012 19:12:52)

To be honest i would't be able to recognize him. I only met him twice. The first time was when he introduced Vicente to the Netherlands in 1983 (1 TV appearance, 1 radio interview, 1 gig at an art gallery and one concert at Rotterdam Conservatory in collaboration with my father). The second time we met was apr. 25 years later, probably at a concert of Paco. I also enjoyed an interview with him about the good old days off flamenco. Everyone who gives a Gerundino to a 15 year old talent and is so passionate about flamenco is a wonderful guy to me.

Hello,

I've been looking all over the net for "La isla" transcriptions. I found the guitar pro version, and it is good. But...this version of the song: , is a little bit different, and has a beautiful ending wich seems hard to work out just by hearing.

If anyone has something, please let me know.

Marius
