I really want to take that course.

Hi bbeardb

I can only recommend it but as mentioned in my report, there is plenty of folks interested in that course. If you want to take part in the course this decade, put yourself on the list by contacting Liam Romanillos.

How much is the course? I heard it was very expensive?

Hola Armando

Many thanks for a great report and fine pictures. I have sent the links to my friend Rafael who attended José´s first course some years ago and will be very interested. The course changed his whole approach to making guitars and he and José have been friends ever since. It seems that the same friendly atmosphere still continues.

Romanillos is truly one of the giants of guitarmakers and everybody speaks of his personal greatness too.

Congratulations

Sean

I contacted him last year I belive (or was it very early this year) asking about it. He said it was full and would send me info for the next one when it comes around. I hope that means I'm on the list!

Thanks everbody for the comments

bbeardb

Yes, it means you are on the list but the list is very long already. Liam told me that he got more than 120 mails from people who want to come to the course.

Well, the course is not cheap but worthwile every cent. If i remember well i have paid 1700£ for the course plus a few hundred euros for all the tools that i didn't had plus another three hundered euros for the tonewoods and building materials. Learning has it's price. After the course you will find it was rather cheap i'm sure.

regards

Armando

No I´m sure it´s a good course just can´t afford that price - I´ll have to stick to my books. Maybe I´ll go down to Granada one day and ask if any of the makers there would take on an apprentice for a few months.

Hi lukemoon

Granada could be a good place to go although i don't know if there is a luthier who takes students. If so, it will most likely be a foreign luthier such as Anders. Btw. have you already asked Anders if he takes Students. Maybe he could run a guitarmaking course in Granada. I'm sure there would be plenty of people interested to participate. Whatever way you may choose, i'm not sure that it will be less expencive than the Romanillos course at the end. Stephen Hill offers also guitarmaking courses (for flamenco guitars) in Lewes UK. The price is about equal to the Romanillos course although the duration of the course is four weeks and does not include accomodation.

He also offers them in La Herradura, on the Costa Tropical, a nice venue.

Hola Luke

Rafael Lopez

(have a look at http://guitarra.artelinkado.com/foros/forumdisplay.php?f=17 )

gave a one week course in Cádiz in July. A great success and quite cheap as it was run by the University. It might well happen again next year.

Yeah the cadiz one would be interesting. Will focus my attention on building my new workshop and then my next guitar for now.
