gerundino63 -> some cool flameco, dude! (Nov. 13 2003 15:30:03)

Hi frends!

I need a little help here.

I have a son, his name is Tim, 13, and I give him a several years guitar lessons.
In the beginning years only classical stuff, but the last year, you guess, he wanted to learn flamenco. I warned him, becouse it is difficult, but he pursuated.
( Not so strainge, becouse the kid only hear flamenco guitar his entire live).

I started with a soleares, and that worked quiet well, after that he went for the Colombianas El Nuevo Dia from Toques Flamenco (paco Pena).
Well, he manage that one quiet well, but now we are looking for some cool stuff, a little spicey, maybe a Rumba. not too difficult, but challenging enough for him.
The colombianas, is about the top of his playing, the other songs from the book are still to difficult for him.

Maybe you have a sugestion, or you think of something hearing this story.
Thanks in advance from both of us!
greetings, Tim and Peter.

Peter, you think the Columbianas is the easiest piece in that book? I think it's about equal level with all of them. It doesn't use a lot of flamenco techniques, though, is that what you mean? If I recall, that alegrias isn't too hard. You could simplify the rasgeo and take out the tremolo if he doesn't know it yet. The farruca is pretty easy too.
