lukemoon -> Bedroom luthier 2 (Aug. 17 2006 19:59:08)

Had a weeks Holiday in my wife´s village in spain and took the guitar and some sandpaper and a couple of clamps with me.

Here Dad has a work bench in his garage!![8D]

Anyway used tung oil to finish it off and stuck on the bridge made from a scrap of british yew I found.

Had to finish the neck with a water based laquer that´s come up a treat.

Took a while to set it up and it still needs work to get the action lower but finally got to play it after two years of effort and a baby inbetween.

Anyway I was first just happy it sounded like a guitar but the more I play it I like it.

Especially with my strat like neck it has a big sound and a very bright attack basses are ok to.

So when my initial glee passes I´ll tidy things up.

It´s full of mistakes and mishaps but beauty lies within and I can now sell off a few of my better guitars knowing I have something better to play.

I´ll inform you of my next project soon.

Already bought the woods.

Anyway on my last night I sat on the street and played my guitar with a glass of vino very tired from all the effort and showed it off to a few locals who where very impressed.

Now I´m back home at work on the pc.[sm=Smiley Guitar.gif]

I'm diggin' it! Sorry, been gone and busy for a few days, and just popped on and saw this....

Givin' me some ideas.... Hope I maybe get a chance to build again! Right now, my baby is 'in the shop', as the pegs are going to be re-hab'd, and I just can't get to the shop for a bit.

Also, I think I'm going to re-shape the neck. I'm not that happy, but it IS a bit thick, so I have room to work.

Great job! What's the wood on the saddle? I likalika'!! [:)]
