Students were of all levels. There were some players much better than me, and total beginners too. Javier was a student there just like myself. He is really great for his age, but still has lots to learn, and fortunately is eager to learn and get better. There is a younger player than Javier from France who also plays very advanced pieces, but like the rest of us in class, recognizes the need to get better at compas and technique, etc. There was a "guitar night" where the students could perform a piece if they wanted. No one was obligated, just whoever was brave enough to play in front of all those great players in the audience. Gerardo tried to organize it in order of what he felt was lower level to most advanced. There was one surprise, a young turkish student was much more advanced than expected and was in the middle of the order. Towards the end there was Nino Manuel from sanlucar (very advanced, should have gone last), Eric Steen, myself, Javier Conde, and Antonio Rey was last (not a student, but a surprise guest). So that was the feel for the order, but there were many great players who did not want to perform that night. Miguel Iven for instance, my friend pictured above on the left by Nick, his name is Federico from France, amazing player, and Tino of course. Tino was teaching the repeat class once again, but did not play much this year. Anyway more pictures coming soon. Here I am at the student recital, a surreal bulerias jam with all the guitar students. Eric (not pictured, off to the right of Javier) and I trade solos over the intro: Gerardo accompanies Guadiana: Another juerga, I have Gerardo's conde, Federico has my Sanchis, Eric Steen has the mic: Gerardo teaches class: Castillo where we had the student recital. Really pretty. That is nick's head:
