I came across this old LP on ebay:

I didn't buy it because I don't own a record player. Its long out of print, and unavailable on CD I think. But I'd be interested to know if anyone has actually heard it. And if so, what was it like? I'm thinking maybe its PDL/DiMeola/McLaughlin type stuff?

Anyway, its annoying that none of these old LPs are available on CD. All those Escudero, Esteban De Sanlucar, and other old school ones... if it wasn't such a copyright headache, someone should just copy them from vinyl directly to the computer and burn off CDs to sell. But hey, that would be illegal! [;)]

Tom, what was so bad about it? Too much rock and not enough Flamenco? No compas? Pure commercialism? (I haven't heard it, so I can't judge...)

I don't know jb, it just wasn't MY cup of tea. It wasn't flamenco nor rock. Perhaps psychedelic rock with a dash of flamenco??? and it wasn't JEFF Beck but Joe! I got this years ago and I'm embarrased to admit that when I first glanced at this LP, I read JEFF Beck not Joe. It wasn't till I got home I noticed it said Joe. Yeah, I'm real bright. Nothing gets by me [X(]

lol, yeah, I thought it was JEFF Beck at first too!!! [:D] I've never heard of JOE Beck, but I'm told he plays jazz mostly. Thanks for sharing your views on the album... I even managed to track down someone selling it on CD, but if its as bad as you say it is, I won't bother buying it. Although given Sabicas' reputation, I expected better things.

Hey I'm not saying you or anyone else wouldn't appreciate this album. I was speaking only for myself. There's only one way to know if YOU'll like it.

Somewhere I read that even Sabicas himself hadn´t liked this record.

That doesn't surprise me. I think all Flamencos secretly look down on "fusion" music involving Flamenco. Perhaps they think its "diluting" the culture. Take PDL and his DiMeola/McLaughlin years... I heard Paco hates that stuff too.
