I never heard about the guitarrists you told. Only Paco is well known, so it could be that flamenco is written as title of your other CDs but there is no flamenco inside. Be careful with the trem flamenco.

Here you can download many titles. Just seach for the names. But I think you would only find more usual guitarrists there. Good luck.

Gino d'auri is not famous artist. When i insert in google his name the only thing i get is his biography and nothing more.He had 3 albums.
In biography stands that he played tradicional flamenco,"duende" flamenco-a.
If someone heard about him and knows this style in flamenco and artist who play this style please tell me.
I don't like very much paco style and juan martin because is mixet style ,fusion-flamenco style(correct if i'm wrong).

Pacos records in general are most flamenco you can get. Hes Mr. Flamenco. Ok he did some fusion things with Aldi but trust me. If you wanna hear real flamenco, buy some paco CDs.[;)] Juan Martin is very traditional style and also muy flamenco. Maybe he plays the style of the wrong century..but thats another question.
Its weird that you dont know Paco much but the grino Aurelle.. ... ....... I allways thought thats not possible..^^

EDIT: Ok I found some samples. He really plays basic. No Ottmar. Its like Juan Martin or Manitas de Plata but in compas. Well,.. hes ok..maybe ok, but not my taste.

EDIT2: ups nhills I didnt saw your post. sorry. Hmm I only heared the solea guajira and the buleria..and it sounded a bit bad recorded and not very advanced to me as the traditional stuff.. I dont know the other albums..

nhills -> RE: gino d'auri (Jul. 3 2006 16:14:51)

The 3 albums are "Flamenco Mystico", "Flamenco- Passion & Soul", and "Passion Play".

I would NOT call them "traditional" in the least - there's lots of post-processing, massive reverb, etc. The first album has a strange version of the "Recuerdos." He has a rather odd sense of compas. I have all 3, and they're interesting, but I don't know of anyone else who sounds at all like him (fortunately?).

If I understand what you're looking for, try Ramon Montoya, Nino Ricardo, Mario Escudero, and Melchor de Marchena.

Dude, you mentioned "Armik" as one of your likes. But do a search on www.flamenco-world.com and Armik's work will not show up. Why? probably because he's more "Noveau Flamenco" than "traditional Flamenco". From what I hear, he blends Flamenco with Arabic music (like Strunz & Farah), and is very popular in "New Age" music circles. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a bit of Noveau Flamenco, but to compare Paco De Lucia and Armik is like comparing chalk and cheese.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, as I have plenty of PDL albums, but no Armik ones. [;)]

I have all pacos albums and i like him but not that much.
What i liked about gino d'auri is that slow and passionate play, and whole aproach to flamenco.
He has that he plays tradicial flamenco!

And about armik i sad that i have listen him but not like him very much(beside he has some good flamenco song 1 or 2 per album

I think this is a funny topic.

It's almost like we're talking different religions here.[:D]

I listened to the samples and think they sound nice. Very mystico indeed !

But I wouldn't lable it as puro or traditional. More as a fusion of flamenco with new age. I mean, the tabla's, keyboards, cello.

Nice music though.
