TGerman -> Travel Case Recommendation (Jul. 2 2006 10:45:12)

Whats up guys?

Can anyone recommend a decent traveling case? I have one of those humi-cases but I'm not sure if it's meant for traveling, I would be hesitant to check it onboard.

Ricardo, in one of your other posts you say you go Spain every summer, are you going this year? I'm heading off to Jerez in 3 weeks.

Take one which you can wear on your back. And it should be a light as posible. If you walk around with a heavy case in spain during this time you will sweat very bad...

Good point Doit, but what about bringing it on the plane? Surely a soft gig bag is not good enough?

I had exactly the same question and problem as you some weeks ago! ^^ Here in Duesseldorf its very hard to get the guitar in the plane. They arent very nice to musicians. But if you tell them again and again that its a very expensive guitar and its your tool for work and you often use the plane and it werent a problem in past,..they will let you in. Im 100% shure. Just try to be nice.
Take it as handluggage. No problem with a softcase.[;)]

I will be in Spain 15-22 of july. I have taken connecting flights where you MUST gate check and they toss the guitar on to the conveyor belt. Use a normal hard case and hope for the best. At all costs try to get the plane on board with you and put it in the overhead or closet. Be very NICE and don't make a fuss. Don't ask what to do with the guitar, they will stop you if it is really a problem, like no over head space. Gate check gets you a pink tag and they hand you the guitar back as you walk off the plane. Good luck to you and me!

aaaahh now I get it.... They dont have a 60kg weight. ... They wont break if you put 60kg on the top.[&:][&:][&:] ups..

60kg isnt much for an instument made of lightwood inside I think. Does the guitar fit perfect in the case? If not, fill it with towels. I think there it wouldnt break. Ask for a breakable sighn.

=> A load balance of 60 kg is very much, just on the arched surface. You can buy an Accord Case for 1200 Euro that holds just 50 kg on the entire top. It´s always better if the guitar is held fast in position and can´t move inside the case. My cases are also available with custom shape.

If you are interested than let´s talk not here. Please shoot me an eMail: service(at)Noblecases.com
