Hi everyone,

A friend of mine who is a professional guitarist is travelling to Spain soon and he wants to buy a good blanca guitar in the range of 3500-5000 US$...he asked my advice and in turn I ask you guys here about your recommendations for him..

Have a great day all

I make flamenco and classical guitars in Granada and although I think I make an excellent flamenco guitar I know that your idea was to have the experts here make a few reccomendations. Well I consider myself to be an expert and here are the flamenco guitars in that price range in Spain which I have tried and I think are great. Obviously it is very risky to buy a guitar (especially flamenco) without trying it out for sound and feel.

Antonio Marin Montero
Pepe Marin Plazuelo
Jose Lopez Bellido
Antonio Raya Pardo

Plazuelo and Marin Montero are gaining a reputation for blancas,

They have been making top end blancas for decades! Marin is thought of as being the godfather of the current Granada school. I had a fine Montero y Bellido made in 1968. Gaining a reputation?

Nealf.

I feel I've either said something that upset you in the past or you've got me confused with some other guy?
If I've upset you, please let me know what it was about and I'll make an open apology on Foro.

Jim.

I´m not going to discuss if someone is more famous than another etc.

I agree with you tha Antonio Marin is mainly a classical builder, has been so for many many years and is actually being considered by some people to be one of the best spruce top classical builders today.

I´ve had the luck to play a completely new blanca made by him a few years ago and I consider it to be one of nicest flamenco guitars I´ve played, and the best one from Granada. The craftmanship was absolutely top notch. Very traditional with nothing special, but everything perfect.
I say one of the best, because a lot is personal taste. This was a very singy, bright Blanca with beautifull harmonics. Very elegant. A lot of players would have loved it and raved about it on various forums.[:D]
I personally prefer a more percussive sound with more dinamics when you push it, but thats my taste!!!!!
