Not flamenco, but guitar. I had to laugh at about 1:50 at the sheer uselessness of the show-off technique he does, but I'd say he's damn good. He's got the 80's poofy hair, too. What do you all think?
I've got one of Michael angelo Batio's albums, and one of his tuitional videos. I don't particualarly like most of his songs, but there's no denying his technical skill. he is also widely regarded as "The Fastest Shredder In The World", if that means anything. You can take or leave his songs, as they're often a 90% speed, 10% composition balance (unfortunately). But I have to admit that it would be "cool" to be able to play like he does.

[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D] I think it's great. Cheesy, but cool too. I hear what you're saying about the 1:50 thing, and would be more critical if he didn't have the technical ability, but he backs up all the theatrics with his technique - thinks me.
As for the hair, it looks like it needs some moisturizer, and maybe trim off some of the split ends. [8D]
What's with the Golds Gym shirt? by the size of his arms, I don't the he goes there much [:D]

IMO you have to be completely doped up to enjoy this kind of music. It seems to me that this music only resonates with the dark sides of human psyche. I never enjoyed metal music, but on a totally irrelevant note, almost all metal bands come up with one or two real nice slow songs that I really like. In any case, this guy seems to be an amazing guitar player.

He seems like a funny guy that does not take himself too seriously, like Yngwie and other speed freaks. But he has a weird picking technique, just his thumb and index "twitch" to get the speed picking happen. He is really fast and has a good sound for this metal stuff,great left hand moves, but I think he is technically limited (right hand I mean) by his approach compared to some other players in the genre. Paul Gilbert for example, has a lot of challenging techniques that very few players, fast or not, can play, and they sound very musical at the same time. Jason Becker was another, much more advanced I feel. I don't feel like any of these guys are any faster literally than guys like McLaughlin/Dimeola etc, it is just that they don't mind exploiting their speed. But music is expression, so if over playing makes you feel good, and the kids like it, than who cares?

Malmsteen's music is for the most part horrible, but I always enjoyed his solo pieces. He was one of the first, gotta respect him for that...
I can only think of a small number of Malmsteen songs that I actually like. For me its guys like Vinnie Moore, Tony Macalpine, Satch and Neil Zaza that are/were the prime exponents of the shred phenomenon.
