This is just MY opinion of course.

Yikes!

Well ... sometimes people have trouble deciding ... negra or blanca. Why not both. Too many puns and jokes here. Must resist.

I have seen some nice "blangra's" where the pattern was at least tastefully done. Manzanero has done some nice ones. I just don't like the way this ebay one was done.

itoprover -> RE: It should be against the law... (Jun. 1 2006 15:25:10)

I have one one of those Sigurdson's blangras (on photo) - it sounds very nice and loud. I am still not sure what prompted me to buy a blangra but i did not make a mistake - that's for sure!
BTW, I don't like how this guitar on ebay looks.

This is at least the second time it has been listed. I have to admit, my curiosity was peaked, and to this day I would love to at least hear it.

As far as the look, it's not my favorite, but I do like innovative designs. The headstock reminds me of another unique design i liked the first time I saw it....click here

I'm not a big fan of the guitar on Ebay that Tom posted, but thats just personal taste. I do, however, like the guitar that Itoprover posted. There's nothing wrong with making interesting and unusual designs. I think many Classical and Flamenco guitarists are stuck in the past, and need to open their minds a little. That said, its how the guitar sounds and plays that is the really important thing.

here's a similar design to Itoprover's by Admira:

At the end of the day, you can have all the design gimmicks in the world, but if the guitar doesn't sound and play good...

Haha. You caught me by surprise there samwise. Thanks for the compliment. I myself am still trying to get used to my own design [:D]

So your the one who finally took this from Rudy? I had seen this on ebay listed a few times. Unless yours is a different one. From the photo it appears Jeff used a very nice piece of cypress and rosewood. I would have just made one nice blanca and one nice negra.

This actually reminded me of some very beautiful Thomas Humphrey guitars. He has/had some brasilian rosewood he was using for a while for sides that had a natural 'skunk' stripe in it. Have a look here.

The top of my Sigurdson is not like this Admira - it's all sitka spruce (see photo)

That's right I bought it from Rudy this winter. It is a small world, isn't it? :)

bbeardb -> RE: It should be against the law... (Jun. 1 2006 17:39:03)

I've only built two guitars, and both were attempts at Flamencos. I was thinking about building two Rudy style Blangra's myself, both mirror images of eachother. I was even thinking about using a half spruce, half cedar top. Don't know how well that would work though.

Anyway, I'm new at it, I don't plan on selling it, so why not?

Check:

Tacchi is one of the best builders in the world - this will probably be over $15,000.
