Someone has or had an account on Reverb.com claiming to be me, Ethan Deutsch, Luthier, with my picture from my website. I tried to let Reverb know but it's hard to communicate with them: Their help box doesn't accept screenshots and their bot says they can't email me. The listing seems to be gone now. From the pictures, I deduced that the guitar is one I built in 2015.

I had an experience with Reverb years ago. Someone bought a guitar from me, then returned it due to "scratches" that weren't there when I sent it to them. I haven't used them since.

Beware of scams.

Reverb is weird. I created two accounts, but Reverb froze them for no reason. Those fake accounts and scams are wild, but those good people's accounts are blocked.[:D]

Alot of unscrupulous buyers on Reverb abuse the buyer protection policies and return guitars they bought for fake reasons.

Once I tried to sell a Devoe that had a scratch on the top (not a crack) and a would-be buyer told me he will pour water on the top all around that line and if the water went through the wood then he would know if it was a crack or not and in that case he would return it!!

I would never sell a guitar on that website.

I don't understand why someone would create a fake account though as the payment is in escrow until the guitar is delivered, so technically the seller cannot access the money until there is a delivery confirmation.

They could send a box of used cat litter and get a delivery confirmation for it.
