What's the deal with this song?

Just rediscovered it recently.

I really like it but its unlike anything else I've heard.

anyone got a tab for it? It seems pretty straight forward and worked some out without trying.

video by bursche shared here in 2018 if anyonde isnt familar with this song

it is bulerías por abajo with drop D. Not sure what Huelva has to do with it, but romances are using soleá or bulerías compás.

If you like that one, you must also like the Puerto del Principe by Manolo. Also drop D and people almost always call that one alegria. Though a dancer once told me she thought it was actually a Jaleo.
I believe it could also be classified as Buleria de Cadiz. I think it is all more or less the same as long as it is in 3/4 or 6/8 or 12/8 (whatever you want to measure it in)

while for the most part the piece is a bulería de Cadiz, there are certain phrases where the fast soleá 1-10 are expressed, so a very fast alegrías interpretation is not wrong. Same deal with his 2011 follow up in the saura flamenco flamenco film.

I most certainly do like that one too! [:)]

Its strange how dropping 1 string E to D is a lot less effort than "going full rondnena".

Just doing that E is much easier to go back and forth between them . Back and forth between rondnean seem smuch more of a drag mentally. So nice to have a few in drop D.
romance de huelva,
puerte del principe,
la ardilla
Pacos Mi inspiracion

A good one to add to drop D numbers is this Moraito tangos in D major/minor:

As always with Moraito it's very easy to work out but very hard to play like him!

Stu -> RE: Romance de Huelva - Moraito (May 29 2026 13:07:24)

ah yes cool! thats a good one!

whoah Aloysius! where have you been man?? get on the Sanlucar 2026 thread and book your tickets!
[:D][:D]

hope you and Kristy are well!!

aloysius -> RE: Romance de Huelva - Moraito (Jun. 1 2026 9:54:05)

Great to hear from you Stu, and good to see people still posting here! I'll try and be more active on the forum. Kristy and I have been busy raising two kids, running the dance school and putting on shows, although that's gotten harder since Adelaide's only cantaor has just retired. Sanlucar won't be possible for us this year but hopefully soon.

Stu -> RE: Romance de Huelva - Moraito (Jun. 1 2026 15:12:57)

Yeah, its defo a lot quieter than it was in it's early 2000s heydey.

but yes few old faces poppin up! its hard to stay involved as I drop in and out (2x kids too) but I imagine yourself with the dance school will be a valuable contributor! All the best mate!
