A tribute celebrating Paco de Lucía's most revolutionary work, the second sextet – the ensemble with which he redefined flamenco in his final creative years.

The performance features both a contemporary reinterpretation of his classic repertoire and original compositions that highlight Paco de Lucía’s musical and artistic legacy carried forward by new generations. More than a tribute to the past, the concert projects his legacy into the future – driving the evolution of flamenco and connecting with new audiences and artists around the globe.

Performers include: renowned composer and pianist Chano Domínguez, who brings his fusion of jazz and flamenco; guitarists Diego del Morao and Josemi Carmona, both of whom stand out for their distinctive sense of rhythm and expressive creativity in accompaniment; Sandra Carrasco's unique jazz and bossa nova influenced vocals; and singer Duquende's deep, intuitive, and profoundly authentic sound.

Performers

Josemi Carmona guitar
Sandra Carrasco vocals
Chano Domínguez piano
Diego del Morao guitar
Duquende vocals
Farru dance, choir, clapping
Alain Pérez vocals

yes...for the whole deal. How about Diego del Morao, Duquende etc., flamenco. That would be enough. Who is gonna play "la barrosa"? Nobody.

Gerardo is playing at this one, with Antonio Rey.

I've decided to skip on the tribute thing, I've seen Paco with his original band several times and I fear I'd only be underwhelmed. I'm going however to Gerardo/Antonio, if anybody should want to meet up before!

I haven't decided on that show yet. But I'll let you know if I get a ticket.

I missed the Paco Pena “Solera” at Sadler’s Wells yesterday so thinking of going to this next Friday. Will definitely be at Gerardo/Antonio in June.

Booked a ticket! My daughters are in town and have no interest so I’ll be flying solo if anyone wants to meet for a drink beforehand.

silddx -> RE: Paco de Lucia Legacy at The Barbican, London (Apr. 5 2026 13:18:37)

I'll be up for a drinkie. There are a few bars there I think so we'll have to work it out.

How about that harmonica, eh?

silddx -> RE: Paco de Lucia Legacy at The Barbican, London (Apr. 11 2026 12:43:49)

Oh were you there?

Yeah he and the pianist were brilliant, but not what I wanted to hear. The baileor was amazing, as was Duquende and the canteora, and Diego played mostly beautifully. Overall, too much bloody rumba for me. But I enjoyed it, although I think I love puro much more than the fusion stuff. Great to see it sold out. I met my erstwhile tutor Ramon there, he thought it was a good tribute to Paco.

did you catch the Paco Peña Solera show at Sadlers Wells?

Actually, I'm surprised no one mentioned it on here, as Dani de Morón was playing with him. I saw the show last time and it was really great. They did a really super farruca duet where Paco played some old Sabicas stuff, Dani played some of his stuff, they accompanied each other, and blended together at the end. The older and younger generations in dialogue. It was beautiful. Didn't make it this time, but would have liked to.

His group shows are great, he usually takes a back seat (apart from maybe one solo) and lets the younger guitarists do all the accompanying, and he just kinda plays along, which is totally cool IMO.

I think it's kinda ironic that Angel Muñoz seems to have 2 regular gigs, one with the "traditional" Paco Peña, and the other with Cañizares![:D]

I saw the first one after Paco passed, with Jorge Pardo and Niño Josele, can't remember who else but it was really good.
But yeah, who is gonna play La Barrosa?
They should get Salvador Andrades, he can play any and all of PDL.

Or Grisha, Javier Conde, and a handful of others.

No, I wish I had, I would have enjoyed it more than this. But I have not been keeping an eye on things. And I'm so busy at the moment. I really dig Paco Peña.

Thing is, I like singing and dancing, solo guitar is not as attractive to me.
