Few of us saw these guys last night in London. I met ddias and xirdneH_imiJ!
We watched the show and had short debrief afterward! I think Richard ran into Antonio and got a photo as he was leaving!
We should've got a group photo of foro dudes as is customary! [:D]
So in NY this was a Sabicas tribute?
I may be wrong but i think Antonio and Alvaro did a Sabicas Farruca together with some modern twist sandwiched between the original?
But that was it I think.
Was mainly Gerardos back catalogue Rondena/Buleria schtick, Sevilla, Templo del Lucero etc
I found the 3 guitars a bit of a cacophony to be honest. And Antonio's guitar was so loud compared to the others.. Couldnt hear Gerardos melody line on his classics so I found that a rather annoying. (I thouhgt it was due to my dodgy ear, but guys afterwards agreed with me)
Technically all outrageous and amazing but it was lacking something for me. silence and nuance.
I also think I find a little frustration when hearing all the classic that I listened to religiously for so long played with a fresh twist or a second guitar. Its basically not the album version that the crowd (me) wants to hear. But I get it... its not that for a reason.
(oh and also couldnt hear Olga Pericets footwork at all!..yes soundman was asleep)
