Does anyone have a preferred mic that’s attached to the guitar for live playing? I’ve seen goose neck mics over the top of the guitar, lavalier type clipped on the sound hole and also systems inside the guitar like the 2mic system. I’m looking to spend under $300.

I saw that mic but everything I saw seemed like YouTube influencers given a free one. It seemed fine from the videos. I just don’t have experience with using mics for live performance. Have you tried it?

I took a look at the website and looks to be a good product transmitting at a frequency to get a low latency.

Looks like all their products are for pro mic plugs which should be fine if you roll that way.

The price is right for what they offer.

I’ve been looking for southing similar but that I can have the wireless receiver plug directly into my laptop vie usb.

Do you have an audio interface already? If yes, you need to buy an XLR microphone.

If not, you need to decide whether or not you want to buy an audio interface.

If you do not want to buy an audio interface, you need a USB microphone.

If you answer some of these questions, I can better guide you.

A goose neck provides a fixed position, but I rather prefer using the position relative to a mic on a stand. Engineers like this because they can compress your signal, another pet peeve of mine. I like dynamics. My favorite mic is the Shure beta 87A for vocals, and honestly the guitar is like a voice too. The flat cardioid avoids bleed so if you close mic it into the sound hole and role off the bass, you get a loud signal without the palmas or yelling and stomping near by, nor feedback from monitors. I could imagine someone using that exact cardioid on a goose neck and that might be good (definitely better than the typical ones they have now), but again, I like moving from the mic for dynamics.

If your budget is very very tight, i recommend behringer c2 condenser mics. I have a stereo pair which i bought for 39 bucks from amazon. Basically 20 bucks a mic. You don't need stereo.
It is amazing how they do it with that price and still make a win,even in china. They are well built, sound good and clean without changing the sound. I have a hard time to distinguish between them and my Rode NT5.
Add a little bit of reverb and EQ and you will get what you want for 20 bucks. But yeah, only If you have Audio Interface already.

Any Condenser mic (like the Behringer shown here) needs phantom power. So yes you need an audio interface. Unless it is USB mic.

I can show you a very cheap but good audio quality option where you don't even need a PC and any DAW. Let me know if jnterested and I might make a short video with explanation

when using normal live sound mics in hopes to have studio quality video sound, you need an interface to transfer the signal to "computer world" vs real world analogs. Where as generic web cams or the camera mics on your cellphone iPad computer etc, are already hardwired with an interface geared to YouTube and social media uploads.

I have always only used my phone, web cam, etc, on my videos (not counting ToddK studio recordings of course). My last phone capture got lots of good comments, so I don't see a point of getting a nice mic for the sake of YouTube video upload unless you also want to have it double as a real world use mic (and that is again why you would need the interface).

metalhead - it all depends on what you're looking for. If you want flexibility, options, etc. you're usually best off with an XLR mic and an audio interface. Of course you can just use a USB microphone (which is basically a microphone and interface combined into one device). You can also just use a smartphone and get reasonable results. Each of these options has pros and cons. I've gone back and forth on each of these, and I always end back up on the XLR mic + audio interface approach. This is an extremely broad topic (recording / equipment), so I think you should learn from me and *not* get lost in this world then realize it's distracted you from the more important thing: playing guitar and getting better at it LOL - whoops! [:D]

Get a Zoom h1n , you can use it by itself or as an interface for recording straight to your computer. No other equipment required.
