What do you think about this?

This is the best video on the internet.

The only thing I disagree with is that nail shape affects more the arpegio and tremolo stuff than picado (because you can push through a bad shape). Also you can in fact increase that single finger pulse speed overtime (I did but it took a long time using metronome, and that top number doesn't count unless you are consistent and even), and the thing about coordinating two fingers to get closer to your "limit", is how fast you can SAY verbally the rhythm you want to play. Again I supply Paco's vocalization of Alegria's picado while he does palmas is the same speed his brain forces his fingers to move. If you can't say it, you can't really control it.

It sounds like tktktktktk

takatakatakataka......tkatkatkatka....tktktktk

tktktktk is 16th note picado at around 150 bpm or above.
tkatkatka 100-150 bpm
takataka <100 bpm

Paco is verbalizing that around 190bpm, close or a bit faster to the speed he performs it.

once you have picado mastered - and I've only got it half mastered so far (no chuckling at the back), but enough to pontificate upon - then you have the power to not worry about nails or lack of nails - the power is substantial.

I'm not sure Paco spent much time playing in the streets. Small boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts - doubtful...
