Met several Japanese flamenco guitar and dance students in Spain. So it seems flamenco is huge in Japan.
I have never heard of any Japanese flamenco luthiers though (I know Yamaha did have some Flamenco concert models back in the 1990's but then stopped making them).
Are there any luthiers in Japan who are famous or popular for their flamenco guitars?

Stephen Faulk. "estebanana" here on the foro

To follow up on Ed Guerin's post above, Stephen Faulk is a well-known luthier who makes both flamenco and classical guitars. He is based in Akune, Japan, and you can view his website at "Stephen Faulk Guitars."

My post was inquiring about Japanese luthiers i.e. native Japanese.

It’s funny, most Japanese flamenco guitars go to the U.S. market, and they are usually student models. The guitarists here in Japan prefer Spanish made guitars and there are many dealers who stock all the important makers working now and in the past. For classical guitars, Japanese players are more open to Japanese made instruments, but flamenco is decidedly biased towards Spain made.

I have the possiblity to buy a F-20 from Hakusui Imai, built in 1988.
1200€, no idea if this is a deal.

Never heard of him, but here is another older one in mint condition sold for around 880 dollars, so not sure if that is a "deal"

There is one japanese luthier who currently makes flamenco guiitars but he moved to Barcelona apparently. Tomoyuki Furuta

And then there are couple others who made flamenco guitars in 60s, 70s, etc. but seems like mostly special order and not really famous for flamenco guitars specifically

I’m telling you, Japan’s market in flamenco guitars is dominated by Spanish imports or used Spanish label guitars. Classical market is about half European imports and half well known Japanese makers.

That’s a factory guitar with a name luthier label. It’s like a Valencia guitar, but from Nagoya. Some are good.
