Please recommend me pre-mixed shellac brands for light scratches etc.

Thank you!

Do you think without any polishing experience you should be attempting scratch repair?

I can't recommend pre mixed shellac, because I don't know 'anybody' who uses it in a professional capacity outside of general woodwork.

Every repair is different, and needs a slightly different approach, from light abrasives, polishing compounds, the use of alcohol, and 'lots' of polishing insight.

There is a 'myth' that French polish is easy to repair. It presumes the person doing the repair is a skilled repairer to begin with, not a random person.

Usually chips of granulated shellac are mixed with alcohol just prior to using it. The commercial products that are premixed have proprietary formulas and often have stuff you don’t want in there.

You probably have to buy a bag of dry shellac flakes and mix yourself. Try a blonde or super blonde color.
Several people here can explain how to do it.

Practice on scrap wood until you’re confident.

Thank you very much, Stephen. That’s really helpful.
