Arash -> Interview with Jesus de Rosario (Sep. 25 2025 19:25:36)

He seems to be understandably quite frustrated with current state of things where its all about views, video production, editing etc. instead of being a real good musician, to get recognized and appreciated, which I fully understand. But that is a general trend for almost everything nowadays, isnt it ....
One example could even be the host and the way the intro was done in a dramatic manner [:D]
Anyways he is one of my favorite guitarists. There is some interesting stuff in the vid

[:D][:D] exactly!!!

What a great player, very inventive in that bulería, so glad some people still play like this. He has a look of worry on his face at all times.[8D]

Yeah but what else can you do?? It's defo the way with everything. Every video, podcast etc.
I like this dude from Flamenco University. Seems like decent player with generous knowledge etc

Ill watch this video later! thanks for sharing.

...are we just getting old? I mean its just the way it is and yeah, argueably its made a lot of stuff worse, but also much better!

Yeah, he is probably the most or one of the most introverted flamenco guitarist out there. He doesnt like the spotlight and just wants to speak to the audience with his music and nothing else. Hence, I think it is even more difficult for him than it already is for others to get the proper recognition and also being able to make a normal living without too much worry. [:(]

Yeah that channel is fine and some good interviews. Though too many sale ads for guitars imo, but then again dude needs to make a living too in this difficult genre, so its all good, it all helps spread the art, since he also plays fine and authentic flamenco and not bs

Regarding current state of things: I always feared that when I get older, I would become one of those who always complains about the new and nostalgically and boringly dreams about revival of the past, but seems like that is exactly what is happening the older I become
[sm=rolleyes.gif][:D]. Having said that, I think Im still not totally out of touch and the changes and developments nowadays are so fast and radical and with AI and stuff, more and more inhuman, that artists will have a much harder time. I use chatgpt too for lots of stuff, but deep down I know there is a dark side to all this. Lots of good things happened with Internet, youtube, etc. which helped a lot, but the general direction the recent years does worry me.to be honest.

Arash I’ve definitely at least partly become that old dude but at least I recognize it. For some reason I’m annoyed by a young kinda cute girl that constantly appears in my Facebook feed playing simple flamenco stuff. She plays ok but sounds like she’s got maybe five years into it. Always smiling like she’s so pleased with herself. Must spend a lot of time making clips. Her posts are full of gushing comments mostly from men telling her how beautiful and great she is, while there are professional female guitarists out there just simply doing gigs that play light years better. The world we live in I guess.

I enjoyed this interview with Juan Manuel Canizares.
