fuadd66635 -> Help Identifying a Possible Crack (Jul. 6 2025 22:14:04) Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out whether the line in the photo is actually a crack or just a natural part of the guitar's construction. When I run my fingernail over it, I can't feel anything — it's completely smooth. But under certain lighting, the reflection gets distorted along the line. Also, when I run my finger across it, I can feel a slight unevenness, like the surface is made of two joined pieces. Has anyone seen something like this before? Is it a crack, or just a seam or finish issue? Thanks in advance for your help! Images are resized automatically to a maximum width of 800px

estebanana -> RE: Help Identifying a Possible Crack (Jul. 7 2025 3:36:50) It’s the center seam of the top. Sometimes the finish shrinks and telegraphs the seam through the finish. It’s normal. On really well made instruments the center seam will be invisible and perfectly flat when the guitar is new, but less expensive guitars can have center seams that are visible. The center seam has a brace glued under it, unless it opens up, which is unlikely, the seam is fine as it is. There’s nothing you can do about it. If it’s a factory made guitar its ’par for the course’ but a hand made upper tier guitar shouldn’t have a center seam you can feel.
