I won't ever forget the night he sang in Pueblo de Cazalla July 2000, closing out the long 4-hour cante festival with a round of martinetes before the sun came up. Before him had performed Macanita who got booed off the stage (for her words about the pueblo, not her singing). He asked that the audience have some sympathy for her and then proceeded to dominate the evening, despite the late hour at like 3 or 4 am, (audience had been very tired), with very heavy cante that elicited cheers from the audience. Antonio Carrion played beautifully, however, the strongest tocaor of the evening had been Manolo Franco for Pansequito.
