With many of us traveling to Spain, seems wise to be cautious. This from the Guardian. And to think I was only worried about heat and floods.

Don't tell anyone, but I'm pretty sure it's because I turned on my toaster when I already had a fan and two other appliances on. It's a powerful toaster, what can I say.

There's no way a toaster could do that.

On the other hand, the inter-dimensional time-warp machine that I fired up a few days ago is a bit of a power sap. No idea if it knocked any grids out but, then again, I just got back.

You're not fooling anyone, Piwin. You were really crypto-currency (Bitcoin) mining and with the tremendous amount of electrical power needed brought down the entire Iberian electrical grid.

The Torygraph has blamed it on net-zero solar and wind power...[8|]

2021 Texas power crisis was way worse.

I was in Granada on Monday during that power outage. Scheduled to fly home on Wednesday so I was a little concerned with all the hassles I would have to go through if the power outage continued for another day. Luckily we got power back on some time during the night. But the memorable and admirable thing to me was what a local grocery store, Elemen, did during the outage. They had their employees take turn to walk with the customers, who stood in line at the front door, one by one into the store so the customer could pick out what they wanted to buy. The employees either used a small calculator or app on their phone to keep track of the total. This went on during the evening too. When the shopping was done, customers paid cash at the exit. I was in line twice. Then there was a sad thing. On Tuesday I went to Elemen to buy fruit, I saw a big hole on the front glass window with cracks running all over. The employee told me it happened around midnight.
