I was watching this video:

and noticed his orthodox right hand. Doubted an injury and sure enough there was a post here around 2010 about his index finger being jammed in a car door. I'm wondering he has still not recovered in 15 years? Is he still gigging and doing stuff? Made sense why there's so less recent videos of him despite a few fiery videos in the past

At 6:12. He was not satisfied with his playing?
Anyone have the same impression? I wish he were still in his prime.

Its not what you say but more likely you are trolling.

It is the "shouting", as you say, as Keith Jarrett does in his recordings. He is singing while listening and feeling the music he plays.

Gerardo is beyond this world anyway. He does not mind as much as you think. He stated that he is already satisfied with all that he has accomplished and played in his life, so he is ok with this change. As as far as I can tell he seems like a person that went deeper into things philosophically. You can tell that from numerous things here and there, his interviews, his music, even the titles of his pieces. He also values poetry. Do you?

His smiling face when playing tells me otherwise. The guy looks pretty darn satisfied and he is definitely very inspirational

This is another explanation.

The thing is everyone can see in terms of technique he's not the same G.Nunez anymore.
But as you stated he already achieved everything he wanted from playing flamenco guitar.

His vocalizations are funny, he has kept them off important audio recordings, but he would do this in the juergas all the time. It is pretty much involuntary, like NiƱo Ricardo, Glenn Gould, and many other greats that can't help it.

His technique issue I have discussed much in the past:

Actually review my posts in that entire thread above for more info. Then also:

and here, after visiting him in 2021 I observed him have a sense of humor about the fact he does NOT want to teach the wrong thing but he has learned to adapt this thing and it does not bother him psychologically anymore (but it did, I feel, back in 2009 or so).
