This is a nice clip of Tomatito's son, José del Tomate. I wonder how much of the presence of his dad's influence is deliberate (given the dedication), and how representative this is of José's general style. It's clearly reminiscent of his dad but also fresh in a way. Feels like he's picking-up where his dad left off, so to speak.

And some accompaniment:

deliberate? I guess most of that would come absolutely naturally from being Tomatitos son and having tomatito as you teacher. I mean you probably wouldn't have to try particularly hard to sound like your dad. Feel like it would be harder for him to create his own sound.

I liked that a lot. thanks for sharing. and as flamenco guitarist videos go. It was odd (between two elevators in a drab office.) but i think it works. nice colours. or lack of colours!

It is for sure more difficult to develop your own sound, style, etc. with such a dad. The "normal" case is a mixture of all your teachers, copying from different Maestros, etc. That is why those guitarists who don't have such a legend as father, probably have a higher chance to sound more "unique" or different. Then again, I find his path perfect. He can add more and more of his own along the way, while at the same time preserving a legend and his sound for decades to come. Some falsettas are actually Tomates, some his own.

Looking at his right hand, it is actually almost an exact copy of Tomate. Thumb, nail and everything. Left hand grip is a bit different.

Imagine having one of these legends 24/7 at home. I would also just copy 1:1 the technique and not even bother anything else 😁

Paco, even though we would probably just chill and smoke weed most of the time instead of practicing 😂
