Title says it all. La Chunga a few days ago and el Güito in today's news.

I've never been a big fan of dancing, but I saw el Güito about 30 years ago in Madrid and it changed everything for me. He performed with others in some kind of building for public use—it reminded me of a high-school gymnasium—, and there were so many people attending that we had to sit on the floor in the front row. There wasn't a stage, so our line of sight was just below his waist. Every movement was forceful and perfectly timed, which enhanced the compás in a way I'd never experienced. I'll never forget that.

I am not fond of baile either but El Güito was the best I have ever seen: such economy of movement, such perfect timing and grace.

powerful description! I have had similar feelings in the past.

I wasnt familiar with these two artists but any loss is sad.

Look for YouTube videos. Well worth the time and trouble. Very dignified just in the way he dressed, stood and reacted to his surroundings. Makes nearly all the rest look like pretty boys and wannabes. Gitano como pocos.

I saw El Guito in the flamenco Puro show-the greatest production ever brought to the states. I never got to see La Chunga, but she was incredible too. So beautiful. RIP.
