Norman Paul Kliman -> Delcamp forum in Spanish to close (Dec. 24 2024 11:26:55)

Got a message a few days ago announcing that the Delcamp forum in Spanish is going to shut down at the end of the year. I posted there occasionally over the years, especially a few months ago in relation to the diatonic exercises I developed earlier this year. There were a few encouraging responses, even from one of the moderators, but that jerk running the show didn't like it and accused me of using his forum only to advertise my website. I politely pointed out a few of my other posts to prove him wrong, and he got nasty and withdrew my posting privileges. What an uptight little creep. Good-bye and good riddance!

That Forum is run by twits who escaped from a Monty Python sketch called ‘ We’ll go to great lengths not to worry armchair amateurs they could be wrong’ 😂

I was kicked off more than a year ago. It was an accomplishment and a proud moment for me personally. The moderation is like the devil and the deep blue sea, if you criticize of set something straight that’s wrong there is always some nimnul to protest that you fouled them and even if your point is correct, why how dare you to countermand the complete novice ensconced in his 1200 € gaming chair writing comments.

The guitar part is fairly dhitty too, I was trying to make friends and get support for creating a guitar ensemble and they aren’t interested. Guitarists are usually in it for self glory and not to create real life communities.

You could invite the Spanish speakers to post here, enough users here speak Spanish and the translation function in Google etc. is good enough now to enable different languages to exist on one foro.

They also have an attitude about flamenco over there, it’s a step child of their precious classic guitar. I was in conversation there a few years back were some hack was ‘guitar splaining’ to me why classical guitar techniques were more important than Wes Montgomery’s playing, and how simplistic and lacking it is. These kinds of ignorant statements are rampant and the mods don’t know any more or less than the dumbdums. It’s very sad.

Incidentally the person whose actions led to your departure was soon found to be so tiresome that he was escorted out.

They have been warmed up with the Bruné article enough over there that I think it's time to start pointing out that aspects of the "modern" post-Segovia "classical" guitar technique look a lot like PDL's playing. [;)]

I haven't gone back and don't intend to.

Is that directed at me or estebanana? When I mentioned "the jerk running the show," I was referring to the owner Jean-François Delcamp. He also insisted that my website posed a risk because of the http connection and was unwelcome there. Like I said, I never had problems with the mods, and at least one of them had nice things to say about my posts and website. I think he was Spanish.

I introduced the Brune’ article ( I guess you mean the development of the guitar and why the split between classical and flamenco happened in guitars nomenclature) way before I moved to Japan, around 2010. Then there was a PDF copy that REB himself said was fine to circulate both on flamenco foro and De La Crap. It was understood by most people, then a new crop of community came up and it was forgotten.

It’s no skin off my back, there’s nothing available in their music in the public domain that cannot be found in several other places. And I buy ensemble arrangements for our group from Alan Hirsh ( Aaron Shearer Foundation) Lou Warde and Andrew Forrest and several other people. I use the free arrangements they offer, but also buy the music they arrange to support their work and teaching.

As for the person who was trolling me on the de la Crap forum, a day late and a dollar short. The moderation there is so weird because there’s no oversight or information vetting. I just lose patience when that happens, I’m just wired to be white, uptight and outta sight. 😂 George Jefferson reference
