trivium91 -> Nail sound when performing picado (May 21 2024 23:04:51)

My guitar teacher pointed out that my picado has a nail sound on the the G, B and E higher strings. I never noticed it until now, though he said I need to play right where the nail meets the flesh, he believed that I was sticking the string to much on the flesh and it was slapping the nail before plucking. Thats fine, so I slowed it down and im pretty much already striking it correctly, fast or slow the sound is still there. is it just my nails? I will say I have angled nails, otherwise they catch and my index is hooked so I file under it. I should also say my teacher is classical, so it's possible he could be directing me to focus on this nail sound where it's not necessary in flamenco. I would post a recording but you can't hear it in recordings unfortantely. The only other thing I can think of is growing my nails, but I recall a year or two ago when I was learning flamenco on my own, having nails much longer than the flesh slows down the Picado.
