For my taste too much arpegio.

Nice groovy Bulerias from Jerez have a lot of thumb work.

Can you stop trolling at all? You don’t even know what is NOT from Jerez![8|]

Valencia nephew of Terremoto, has come a long way since I first met him in Sanlucar. He always helped out Gerardo in the cursos. World class tocaor …who knows, at least, how to rematar a falseta for cryin out loud. [:D]

I just got done learning his Bulerias (manuel's not yerai), could you share where he got these falseta ideas from?

This is so ridiculous.

I can't argue with your taste for less arpeggios. Personal taste is personal taste. But you should've stopped typing right after that.

Metal head!? You've learned neferet? Gonna post a vid?

metalhead -> RE: Show (Feb. 23 2025 10:12:23)

yea I've learned it. can play it currently at 180 bpm. will take a few weeks to get it to 205 and record. do you want me to play it in one sitting or individual falsetas?

He seems inspired by various contemporary sources plus the standard licks from his hometown associated with Moraito and Diego. There was one or two Paco de Lucía licks and the Vicente inspired bass arpegio, but I guess the surprising thing is that he seems to have studied a bit from Chicuelo. Liked those moving power chords at 1:36 strings 5,4,3 with fingers 1,2,3 played with arpegios, and some other details like that key change at the end. He taught a lot of that in the Encuentro video, so it is possible he studied that source. But some of that style is ubiquitous as well. Most of us get inspired by Paco or Vicente, in my case a lot of Nuñez, but then we make our own thing with it, like he is doing in general. I remember I made a falseta before that Chicuelo video came out, then I noticed he had the same guitar (it is Atocha but looks like the Felipe V guitars in general), same goatee I was sporting, and one of his falsetas was identical to mine. I thought, shoot, everyone is gonna think I am copying this guy, but it was just pure coincidence based on the fact we all have the same influences.

Compare to this (the entire piece, but those power chords are at 4 min):

Stu -> RE: Show (Feb. 23 2025 18:10:09)

He's defo studied chicuelo encuentro! I remember seeing manuel accompanying a singer in some bodega on the curso in sanlucar in....2013?? Maybe.. He played my fave cantinas falseta from chicuelos encuentro. Sort of blew my mind a bit at the time, that he was playing it verbatim as opposed to changing or using the idea and that kinda opened my eyes to the fact that he looked up and was inspired by chicuelo.... like I, a dumb English kid from London was too. [:D]

Manuel Valencia is still playing a close version of Chicuelo's encuentro falseta por cantinas. Remember the video of him accompanying Ezequiel Benítez last year (thread below)?

If I only learn all the bulerias by PDL, will I have a good chunk of musical ideas that I can use to compose ? I say bulerias because that's the one I play most

I choose a couple good ones from paco after he died to do tutorials with. Search my name and “Paco falseta tutorial”, numbers 1-4, each has two, so that is 8 falsetas to get you started. I realize the anniversary was today.

metalhead -> RE: Show (Feb. 25 2025 16:57:16)

I already know 5 PDL bulerias falsetas. I have watched a few of your PDL tut videos. You teach a good amount of theory that goes over my head. I try to learn by listening instead. Still not very good at that but I try

Manitas de Lata -> RE: Show (Feb. 25 2025 17:01:27)

in this playlist you got 7 bulerias of Manuel Morao y gitanos de jerez
