rombsix -> Barbera Transducer Systems - Soloist Pickup (Dec. 24 2023 18:28:20)

Purchase here: https://www.barberatransducers.com/guitar_pickups.html

This is the pickup with the best tone (no quack!), sound clarity, and string-to-string volume balance that I've ever used so far in my life. You can hear every single note so cleanly and distinctly that it elevates the quality of the instrument. In the case of this carbon fiber travel guitar, the instrument acoustically has louder basses than trebles, but the Barbera Soloist can account for that because it is adjustable. The output of each independent transducer can be calibrated very finely to get all six strings sounding with an equally healthy output. I actually now prefer playing this instrument plugged in more so than I do acoustically (which I don't think I've experienced with any other pickup). Since I play primarily flamenco, I utilize the golpe technique (where I percussively tap the body of the instrument with my fingers/nail/flesh). I demonstrate this technique throughout the video here to show that this pickup will *not* amplify those golpes/body taps, so you will have to use another method to account for this as a flamenco guitarist (such as an internal microphone as a second source of amplification alongside the Barbera Soloist). The Barbera Soloist's ability to reject the golpes is actually an advantage because that is partly how the pickup attains such a clean/clear tone (i.e. it does not turn the top of the guitar into an amplified drum head) and so effectively prevents feedback. If you want to elevate your amplified sound and get rid of the notorious piezo quack/plastic tone, get yourself a Barbera Soloist right away! Of note, please measure your guitar's string spacing at the saddle to ensure the Barbera Soloist will fit your instrument.
