Just out of curiousity, I was wondering how people position their guitars while sitting. I have my guitar balanced on the lower bout over my right leg. I tried crossing my legs and they fall asleep and I get the pins and needles!

Hm I doubt it. I think he only made it famous...or better: "it" became famous, because of Paco.
I think you just have to "train" remaining long enough in the position. In the beginning I couldnt remain 5 minutes without getting a numb feeling in my legs. Today I played over an hour guitar in this position. Just a question of adaption IMO.

On my ar$e! [8D]

Seriously, I have so many different sitting positions, I could do a book on. I think I will do that in fact, call it Karma Sitta![:D]

My favorite tho, is to sit back on my couch (which leans back at about 60 degrees) and cross both of my legs (Indian style). I can play in this position for hours.
"OOOOOHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMM!"

i now sit with my right leg raised on a footstool, the curve of the guitar resting on my right thigh. after trying so many positions this is the one for me though the left hand does not have as easy access as in the classical position.

one odd thing, if i am wearing a short sleeve shirt, my right arm will start to fall asleep within five minutes while my bicep is resting against the guitar body. if wearing a long sleeve shirt, it never happens. because of this i kind of squirm a bit while playing, periodically lifting my arm and readjusting.

still i hate the fact that any other chair but the one i practice in never feels correct to me.

See 'Pics for Miguel' thread for a photo.

If I had a dollar for everytime I have limped off that stage due to my leg going to sleep...[:D]

I find it helps to move around whenever I can - between numbers or even sometimes during a number, it depends. Remembering to do at this at gigs is my problem!

Whatever position you use its not a good idea to be completely fixed in that position for a gig/practice session or whatever.
