Part of the reason for having the monitor face you and not have it be the same as the house sound, is so the mic picks up a different sound and you can hear you self too. Of course it is a different sound than the house, but you won't get the bass feed back for instance. I like the monitor to be not too loud but the house very loud if possible. If you use the ear monitor, you will better hear yourself but not necessarily eliminate possible feedbacks. If you are behind the house speakers for example, you could get bass feedback. Cutting bass from you sound affects what the people hear. Ideally you have the house up front like that, but a good floor monitor to hear. Other wise, speakers behind is the way to go. My friends use the bose towers and they don't need monitors even if the speaker is up front. Ricardo
