This is the guitar that Vicente records all the albums with, his best guitar. He takes that junky Reyes (the same one he sat on and destroyed while talking on the phone) to all his gigs just in case either it gets damaged/lost/stolen, or if he accidentally sits on it again. [:D][:D][:D][:D]

Why not? Last time I was in a studio, we had 3 guitars to choose: Gerundindo, Reyes and Conde. Live, the Gerundino destroyed the Reyes: the Reyes destoyed the Conde.

With the micro and listening for the recording, the Conde destroyed the Reyes and the Gerundindo. So we recorded with the Conde.

I cannot understand why Condes have a bad press among amateurs: most profesionals play them, for various reasons.

Bedroom players have to have the very best, without understanding why, when they seldom play in public.

That Reyes is fake anyway. He got it from some guy on reverb who took out the Sanchís label

This is quite a simple explanation. They purchase one, very excitedly, then are disappointed when they realize it doesn’t make them sound exactly like:

Paco de Lucía/Tomatito/Moraito/Nuñez/Niño de Pura/Enrique del Melchor/Chicuelo/Cepero/Morao/Parilla/Melchor de Marchena/ or Niño Ricardo. [:D][:D][:D]

I love this thread. That is exactly I do not own a Conde.

Add also Jerónimo Maya to the list, who has more than one Conde and Esteso[;)]

Ah, yeah...but what kind of strings do they use?

It's not the strings. Not the guitar. As mentioned here buy yourself some hands.

quote:

MELCHOR DE MARCHENA
Entri hung out with Melchor a lot back in the day and said he was an amazing player, with one of the most puro sounds ever. One time, after they had played in some tablao, a young kid came up to Melchor and wanted to show him his fancy new guitar. The guitar was very expensive, someone had bought it for him. The kid was very proud of it and wanted to know what Melchor thought. Melchor played the guitar a little bit, and said it was excellent. He handed it back to him. "Now buy yourself some hands"

Although Melchor HIMSELF says, at 3:00:

In case it needs to be spelled out…yes, get the hands first, then you will UNDERSTAND what a good guitar actually is. [;)]

Echi -> RE: Vicente playing a Conde? (Sep. 29 2023 7:19:06)

I have a pair of Conde I find supreme but it’s fair to say there are also many dogs around labeled as Conde.
The right Conde is still the best option for me probably with a good pick from an old Gerundino or Ramirez.
Similar story for Ramirez: there are some really great old Ramirez in the 2nd hand market but it looks like the brand lost it’s shine for the average customer. Not too bad.
