So…I’m getting old and have nothing better to do with my life so naturally I’ve started playing a lot more guitar. Mainly electric stuff, I’m trying to take advantage of the wealth of lessons on YouTube to learn things that I should have learned right from the beginning but never did. I’ve got to say, some of the content providers are amazing teachers and deserve their success.

But with the extra hours of study and practice comes a new level of callous, my left hand fingertips are almost like they were when I was younger, in pre-touch screen tablet days. Which is the problem. Typing has become a bit of a nightmare as the screen misses half my keystrokes. I don’t want to stop practicing, and I doubt there would be much loss to the world if I stopped typing, but I wouldn’t mind if I could do both.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, where the touch screen can’t read calloused fingertips? How do you work around it? I can’t be the only one who’s encountered this.

Left hand thumb and right hand fingers.

Yeah, I’ll have to give that a try (matter of fact, I just did and it helps). I suppose investing in a stylus is another option.

Bluetooth keyboard. I never learned this thumb typing crap.
