rafapak -> flamenco guitars availability in spanish cities. (Jul. 24 2023 21:05:54)

I keep asking questions about flamenco guitars cause I used to own flamenco guitar and I know what it is like to play flamenco guitar. I remember this guitar was fun to play, sounded good and was made of cypress. For those reasons I want to buy flamenco guitar again. While browsing internet I noticed that hand made flamenco guitars are beyond my budget. They cost 7, 8 thousand euros. I want to buy cheaper flamenco guitar with cutaway, with electronics , made of spruce on top and cypress back and sides. There are few models I am interested in - cordoba gk studio flamenco guitar, camps fl 11 flamenco guitar, esteve 5fce flamenco guitar

Now question to those who know reality of flamenco guitars availability in spanish shops in spanish cities . If you take into account list below, which is the city where possibility of finding guitar I described above is higher when compared to other city from the list ? The reason why I put those cities on the list is that I have direct flight to those cities from my location. Many of you guys probably visited spain before in search of guitar. Can you tell me which city could serve my purpose ?

alicante, barcelona, valencia, madryt, malaga , sewilla,

I already asked about Granada but probably guitars available there are those guitars that are hand made and beyond my budget.

You'd get a decent used luthier built guitar online for less than you'd pay for the above factory guitars. I don't have any cutaway electrics, or could maybe have helped.

i don't like buying guitars via internet without trying them so guitar I want to buy must be somewhere close to my location so that I can go and play this guitar for few minutes, thanks for reply anyway

Nice guitars I tried in flamenco vive store in Madrid. They have several medium priced Valencia guitars. Mariano Conde had some nice guitars that were in a side room busted and repaired, so lower prices. If I had cash there was a fabulous old conde cracked and repaired I would have grabbed around 2K. Also check Postigo’s shop in Sevilla. Not sure your location.

I’m not sure of your location or the reasons behind your desire to purchase the guitar in Spain, but I think, based on the questions you’ve been asking, you would be best served shopping in a location where the shop staff speaks your native language or at least a common language such as English. If you speak Spanish then no problem, pretty well any large city in Spain will have guitar shops that carry instruments that could meet your needs. But so will pretty well every other major city in Europe. The main thing is to talk with someone while trying out the guitars so they can help you find the best fit for your needs.

Shopping for guitars in Spain can be a lot of fun. There’s a bit of a “guitar culture” thing going on there. Of the cities you mentioned I think Madrid is as good a location to go as any. If you’re polite and respectful of the instrument you’ll be able to try a lot of stuff. Researching, asking questions, and gaining knowledge is the appropriate first step, so you’re on the right track. Enjoy the process, I always get caught up and impatient when it comes to things like this, it can lead to disappointment, so taking your time and trying to identify your needs, like you’ve been doing, is the better approach, IMO.

Stephen Eden offers a hand made flamenco guitar for just over £2K

(click on "The Guitars" at the top of the page and it will take you back to a page that has all his models and lists the prices)

There is naff all in London either. London Flamenco Studio is pretty much all there is. I tried a bunch of Camps but didn't feel anything for them.

For your €1-2K budget, better trying El Flamenco Vive in Madrid than Solera Flamenca. Solera is great with fair prices, but they only do high end vintage and luthier guitars. They do have one 'affordable' model they produce but it's still around €2.5K.

There is also this store in Madrid: https://www.guitarrasdeluthier.com/en
It's 20 minutes walk from El Flamenco Vive, with Conde Atocha half way between.

Personally I would ignore all that and get a second hand Bernal or Hermanos Sanchis for that budget. But you say that you want a cutaway and electronics and you're not playing flamenco, so you have different requirements.
