hi guys

do you know where on the internet I can find info about active luthiers who live in Granada ? I read somewhere that there are about 40 luthiers who live in granada. I plan to travel to granada in search of flamenco guitar for sale. I would like to have addresses of those people who built flamenco guitars in granada before I visit their workshops.

I think there's an association? They might have a list, and you might find a link to any association website at John Ray's site.

on his website he has picture of the book about granada school of luthiers but printing of this book is discontinued. no list of luthiers in granada available

He also mentions an association, although their website is down so not helpful at the moment.

This list was published in 2016. The truth is that a lot has changed since then but this is a good start. Some have retired and other new ones have sprung up.
https://johnguitar.com/guitar-makers-in-granada-with-webpages/ The association had troubles with some members operating in bad faith and it just so happens that those ex-members were responsible for maintaining the webpage. Guitar-makers in general seem to be too individualistic to make an association work. Flamenco guitarist Kai Narezo, who now lives here, has mentioned making a list of guitar-makers who build flamencos. My experience is that most makers do but a fewer number develop a reputation for flamencos.

If you are looking for a "hand-made" instrument stay away from the retail shops (lots of different price points). They tend to have factory-made instruments also and it is not always clear who made the guitar you are being offered. Enjoy your visit.

John's advise is to be tsken seriously.

Antonio Raya Pardo will be sadly missed. I don't know if his son's guitars are as highly regarded.
