estebanana -> Ageism’s weakest comedians (Jul. 13 2023 6:12:58)

A younger fella living in a landlocked US state on a fishing forum told me to “ go home old man in his 50’s” because he didn’t like that I said fishing charter boat talk should be apolitical while at sea. He said bunch of other crap about how liberals were dumb and groomers, etc. the normal online political drivel tit for tat.

I said the guy who’s talking about the fishing poles he’s building is also in the 50’s. He’s running a big fishing rod building company and I bet he’s conservative too, but he’s not engaging in the trivial put downs and boiler plate accusations. He’s a grown man with a company to run. Shall we tell him to ‘go home old man in your 50’s ‘ too?

The guy had a brilliant comeback- he said “You’d give every penny you have to live your life over from age 25.”

Then I realized how to explain the way in which older folks are profoundly smarter than younger folks:

An older person wouldn’t give every penny they have to live life over from age 25. They’d give something, perhaps, to have a 25 year old body, but definitely with the older persons mind and wisdom, because who wants to be as dumb as you were at 25? And live through being that dumb twice in one lifetime? 😂

Yet another good reason proving time travel in the backward direction is not logical/possible. However, I admit there are times I wish I was dumber.
