XXX -> Alzapua in 2s? (Apr. 4 2006 21:00:12)

Hm, is there a way to do an alzapua in twos or fours? Im currently on a Tientos and wanted to do something different than the usual technique, but Im also curious, since all alzapuas I know are in 3s!

Ofcourse try doing a triplet alzapua in sixteenth notes it's hard man, I can't do it yet.
Or better yet do a 3 note accented alzapua but do it at the speed of sixteenth notes.
youll get all confused at least I do.[:@]

So you mean 3 note alzapua?

I meant 2 or 4 note alzapua! I know the 3 note one, thats what I meant with "in 3s", maybe it was unclear.

And sixteenth? [8D] Didnt try that one I think. I do it as triplet, 3 strokes per beat.

Yes try it, down up down up down up down up. 1234 1234 1234 or 12 12 12 12 same thing realy.

there is some 4 note or sixteenth old school Alzapua on this site.

That seems another great guitar site.

Yeah but that sounds crap IMO. I wanted to ask if someone knows an example, a passage where it is done in 2 rythm. Maybe there is even noone that has done it other than the 3 note one, which is also on that site.

Anyways, thx!

Two note is just down up stroke happens all the time in flamenco. But continuously? No that sounds weird, but you can do it by having the up stroke done with index finger.

4 note alzapua is very common. You do two consecutive rest strokes with the thumb, usually those are the notes that change in the melody.

E------0--------------0----------0-----------------0---------------0-------------
B-3---3---------3----3-------3--3----------3-----3-----------3---3-------------
G-3---3---------3----3-------3--3----------3-----3-----------3---3-------------
D-3--------3-2-----------2-0--------0------0-----------------0-----------------
A---------------------------------------3---------------3-1---------------1-0-
E--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At a fast tempo, you can do pull offs instead of two rest strokes of the thumb. Crossing from open 4th string to 3rd fret 5th string would be a hammer.
