mecmachin -> Letra help - understanding cante (Feb. 17 2023 4:45:25)
Hi folks,
I speak some fair spanish, but most of the time I do not understand an unknown letra of an audio or video performance. Thera are a couple of ressources like Canteytoque or letrasdeflamenco, but when not found there, the only way is to google the snippets which I think I understood, together with the artists name and some keywords, like „letra“, „flamenco“, or maybe the palo, though we know that letras are not necessarlily bound to a certain palo.
Even spanish people don’t always understand the cante, if they don’t KNOW the letra. So I want to try to unlock the knowledge of foro members in this thread, or simply ask for ears which hear differently than mine.
Voilà El Cabrillero, accompanied by Sr Pedro Bacan. I am sure most of the letras are traditional, he maybe modified, but didn’t invent them. I am touched by his cante, but I can’t get the heck out of his pronounciation.
This is the little I distinguish (plus some current words maybe in the letra body):
