I am sure that must be interesting to some. If somebody already attended workshops with Antonio, please comment.

What did I say about zipping your uninformed opinions? -10. That is his dad’s name (Tony Rey, flamenco singer), which he has adopted for obvious reasons.

I went to one years ago in London. It was billed as a master class. Adam and I from here and some others had to play infront of him and all the other guitarists. I was completely unprepared and it was pretty terrifying although luckily I knocked out some really simple Tangos and didn't fail to badly. Mostly he gave people a hard time for playing stuff beyond their capabilities.

Having been to a lot of workshops over the years I would say he is really attentive to each player. He listened to people playine, then showed a lot of the exercises he uses daily that could improve their technique. He talked about the the importance of using metronome and even demonstrated how his pieces would sound if he didn't use practice with metronome. He even played some of the new material he was writing and talked about how he composes.

You have reminded me to go over the recording.

It was brilliant really, definetely go if you can.

This is 33 minutes via subway from my home. Should I go? [8D]

Wow thanks John, that is informative. Wondering what language did he use for his teaching and whether recording of video or at least the sound was allowed?

Wow, great for you. For me its going to be 1hr 30mins and parking time, if at all I can park.
Honestly getting there is probably the main stopping factor for me. I used to live closer to the city, but not anymore.
Thats the reason I skipped his concert in September - so great there is youtube with excellent recording.

Ernesto is not responding to me. I emailed him. Where did you find this flyer by any chance? And do you know Ernesto?

Hi Ramzi,

Pedro Cortes whom I studied with a while back (you can see him with Antonio playing 2nd guitar in September concert) gave me this flyer and asked to post where I can. He originally contacted me through facebook. Maybe it is better if you contact Pedro directly (as that was his instruction under the original post in fb). You have fb right?

JasonM -> RE: Antonio Rey's workshop, NYC, March (Feb. 18 2023 21:26:08)

You should go if you can Ramz! Then give us your thoughts. Going into the city is definitely half the battle!

OK I'll contact Pedro. [:)]
