bahen -> Practicing on the fly (Jan. 31 2023 22:00:46)

So, these days, I'm working 12- to 14-hour days and finding little to no time to practice (except on weekends). This is less than ideal. Do you guys have any tips / tricks for practicing technique on the fly, e.g., rasguedos on your commute, working that pinky finger, compas training in your head, arpeggios in your pocket?

You're better off practicing only on weekends. Practicing on the fly. Sorry. It won't work. You need to practice with full attention. The first best solution for you is reduce your working hours and practice on weekdays and weekends.

what about these kinda things?

saw some talk about these once before and the vibe was a bit negative.

I made one once in the early days but never really used it.

Im not sure theyd allow you do pocket arpeggios but maybe....under the desk arpeggios or lap arpegios.

pocket arpegios sounds like a euphemism like we have in the UK. Pocket billiards! (meaning fiddling with/adjusting oneself via the pocket of your trousers!) ahhaha

this thing

Practicing with these small practice tools is very effective. I have the same fretted model shown below as well as one similar to the smaller model. Really good for right hand repetitive movements when in car, watching TV, etc. Also can use for left hand hammer ons/offs. I use with one hand only - but can probably use with two.

I practice compas when I'm running and walking. Each step is a beat.
