Tinbender -> Need Simple Alegrias for Baile (Mar. 31 2006 4:53:04)

I am new to Flamenco and I need a simple Alegrias to accompany a dance class. They are young and I need something solid not to flashy. Everything I have found is guitar oriented and I don't know enough yet to write my own. Your help would be appreciated.

Good morrow Tinbender,
If you have a look in the tab section here, and go into the thread entitled 'All tabs and documents are here' you will find a mountian of tab/sheet music where I expect you will find something you need.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but when I read 'simple' and 'alegrias' in the same sentence, the first thought that crossed my mind was "oxymoron".

Seriously tho, I suppose if you're advanced enough of a guitarist to think that Alegrias is 'simple', then allow me to bow at your feet.

I've been studying Alegrias (without formal instruction) for a few months now, and simple is not a word I use to describe this palo. AND, in regards to baile accompaniment, I understand that Alegrias can be a very complex palo.

Anyway, I know this probably isn't helpful, but I'm a noob - I don't have to be helpful.[8D]

Just kidding....welcome to the foro!

I agree with Sam. Alegrias is IMO the toughest palo to accompany a dancer with, you would be much better off starting with 4/4/ palos like Tangos.

Just check out the recent thread here and on Flamenco Teacher about the BASIC structure of Alegrias- lots of different parts! [&:]

Having said all that, if you are looking for some very basic Alegrias rhythm/compas to start you off, I would check out Graf Martinez book2. Ricardo (regular here and FT) also has a nice video lesson on it which you can get from FT too.
