As long as you keep posting your excellent videos and Ricardo keeps answering devilhand’s questions before they are even visible to the rest of us, then I think it is.

Cheers, my friend, don’t you go and leave, too.

Thanks, Morante: Caracol still valiant, Melchor at his best.

This also reminds me that I owe you thanks for recommending the transcribed oral memoirs of El Chato de la Isla, master of cante gaditano, who consistently expresses his admiration for Caracol.

With this post there are now 24 active posts in flamenco topics in October 2022

During the month of September 2022 there were 28 active flamenco threads, that are still relevant, active and awaiting further discussion.

That’s a total of 52 flamenco conversations in the last 8 weeks. There is no other flamenco discussion site in English in the world with more flamenco discussion happening. It’s all up to you to make it happen.

The Foro is Open for flamenco discourse

Chato was a fine singer, very small and very chato[:)] I remember a concurso de cante in the Plaza de Toros de San Fernando where Chato was the artista invitado. When he arrived at the gate, he was refused admission because he had no ticket. He had to be rescued by the directiva, but nobody could believe that he could not be recognized in San Fernando!

I remember this vid. That falsete that Melchor plays after the intro is really cool.

I love this place, an immense resource, incredibly useful and entertaining. It's not as busy as it once was but that does not diminish its worth nor its eminent contributors.

Are you all sure this is not a cooking recipes foro? I was about to post my vegan paella recipe..[:D]

Beautiful videos posted here, thank you!

Here is one to put some smile on the lips.

I always find it amusing that the producers of the cleaned up DVD production of the Caracol feature that this YouTube video comes from, chose to use a Granaina falseta (15 years too young for the original program) of Gerardo Nuñez as a back drop to the opening scene where we visit Caracol’s home, at 2:00. If you watch the whole thing, this fandango has even more emotional impact. The first guitar to enter his new home, and his wife was not there to hear it (i assume she died in the car crash described or something, her painting not yet completed).

At 11:50 he sings the famous buleria letra No doblen las companas…with the extended cambio. Right after Melchor says Manolo is the greatest cantaor of all time, and Caracol says “Don’t Say that on camera!!!”.[:D][:D]

The second program shows him at his tablao gig and you can see his broken arm in a cast, obviously recorded before the first episode.

It's such a great falseta that it transcends space and time!
